It's late May in 1999, and the first new Star Wars movie in years has hit theaters -- hit them so hard, in fact, that the only tickets available locally are for weekday matinees, according to this pilot fish.
"So my boss decided that he and my co-worker and I were going to take a late lunch, sneak out and go watch a movie," fish says. "I objected a bit, but he pointed out that about 30 computers were coming soon, and we'd be working late installing them throughout the company, so taking a couple of hours would be fine.
"We told the receptionist that we were going to a team lunch, and would be back in a couple of hours.
"When we walked into the theater, the first person we saw was our CEO and his wife, who had taken the day off to go see the movie. Busted!
"We went ahead and watched the movie, then returned to work to find that the CEO had beaten us back to work so he could tell everyone else that he'd seen us at the movie. Everyone knew where we'd been on our 'team lunch.'
"And boxes for the 30 or so computers, with boxes for the 30 or so monitors, lined our area. They had arrived while we were gone, and someone else got the work of stacking them for us."
